| A tree is like a child's bike...it can pretty much be anything, anywhere, anywhen... Full of myth and mystery.
It reminded me of Charles de Lint's novel "The Onion Girl". |

| This is great. Reminds me of my dad - he loved nature & was always very forward-thinking. He read us The Little Prince & The Giving Tree when we were very young. Dad took the time to explain to us the background message of those books & he would have loved this. |

| I recently bought the print "Deep Roots" because I felt it was written for me. I come from a family where the parents were alcoholics and I the child was the grown-up in the family. When I was young and walked to school the trees waved to me as I passed and I always waved back. I grew up to write children's stories (as yet unpublished), one about a tree that my great-grandparents used to park |

| This was the story of the day a few days after our local elementary school crossing guard, Mrs. Sharp, was struck and killed in a crosswalk. People who drove past her post every day say she waved and smiled and her presence was the highlight of their mornings. She perished while doing her duty of protecting our children - I know Mrs. Sharp will still be watching over the school, like a tree wit |

Reminds me a bit of The Giving Tree-- but different.
Thank you, Brian, for your sensitivity and sweetness. |

| My partner died three months ago of infection in the wake of leukemia. . . Our grandaughter of 5 years old was a constant source of joy for her. . . I found a copy of this print and gave it to my spouse several months before she died . . it retains a significant expression of her spirit and engagement with those who follow. |

| So many Story People prints have touched me over the years but none more than this one as we are losing my dear sister, Gina, to melanoma. As a mother and nurse her life has has been about children, meeting their needs and saving their lives. We will listen for the tree songs. |

| My sister passed away 6 years ago. This story was given to my mother and then I bought it for myself. It truly depicts everything my sister was; her love for children and her love to teach them. My children never got to meet my sister so I hang the print in their bathroom-it's a constant reminder and in a weird way I feel like it helps her watch over them. |

| I was a teacher for a handful of years and occasionally wonder if I was selfish to leave..but then I remember there are 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, and 52 weeks in a year and kids need good teachers everywhere they go, not just in the classroom. |

| Ms Donna, a beloved school member just passed away and this was her very favorite story. We have planted a little tree in our court yard and will post this story close by. This was what she was all about. we miss her so, but she lives on in that little tree and the children will look to it for strength. |

Evenso she has a very cheery nature and loves children, especially her grandchildren. She waits every morning to |

| My aunt passed about 7 years ago, and my uncle gave this print to my grandparents, my other aunt, and my mother. Every time I see it hanging in our house I remember my aunt and believe that she still watches over and cares for her two daughters as they grow into adults. I just love "Deep Roots" and how it has helped our family cope and heal through the years. |

| The print that goes with this story is sold in a store near my home. My uncle and my father saw it one day while they were Christmas shopping after the sudden and unexpected death of my aunt, an elementary school teacher. The passage really hit home for the two of them, and the three of us stood in the store crying. I've been a huge fan of these works ever since then. Thank you! |

| When I first read this story tears welled up in my eyes and I felt that grip in my heart. This speaks volumes to me as I see that children (unlike many of us adults) are so naturally and beautifully connected with nature. They experience the wonder and awe just by living. I love that Brian has shown the interconnectedness here of children with nature - and trees with deep roots know the things |

I whispered my secrets to her, hugged her and was very certain to respectfully curtsey before departing the presence of this matriarch of trees. I always felt she listened and watched for me. For the past 20 years she has been a kindergarten teacher bringing laughter, knowledge, and new experiences to the lives of her 5 year old students.
